Day Two-Sixty: Ad Infernum, Part Three

  1. Careful now...we know how well monologuing works for comic book villains...and Bond villains...and essentially every movie that has a bad guy in it. I think you should've went the "I did it 35 minutes ago" route. Now THAT'S classy!

  2. O.O He's that Desert Hermit's brother, isn't he?

    1. I guess I was premature to rule him out earlier. I said it was because the Baron didn't seem to give long speeches. But I guess this is it.

  3. I view this monologue as The Baron venting his frustration over having to serve King Jeffrey for several years, as well as his relief in finally being free of that obligation. For somebody as carefully ordered as The Baron seems to be most of the time, a dude like Jeffrey would be nightmarish.

Besides that, there's also the subtle implication from Kierkegaard that The Baron used to be a teacher. He's slipping back into lecture mode. Monologues are implied.

    1. Heh. When The Baron almost said codespace, that is when everything clicked together. That, and when Kierkegaard implied that The Baron used to be his teacher...

    2. I hinted at the Baron / Iko relationship in early July, though I doubt anybody noticed the clue. It's hidden in the scenery in this Mindless Walkabout strip: http://www.mindlesswalkabout.com/2012/07/time-passes.html

And, yes, that more or less confirms your theory, but that would be made obvious next week anyway. I won't stress out over it.

    3. ...All I can think of is the odd rug on the floor in the last panel, otherwise I have nothing.

    4. That's it. The rug is actually his face. Two little circles for glasses, little tufts of hair at the edge, a nice, big, tooty smile... couldn't make it TOO obvious...

  4. Oh Baron, what are you doing? Did you never read the Evil Overlords list? You're breaking so many essential rules right now. Your plan will never work as a result.

  5. Pretty awesome but breaking the fourth wall with the "code/soul" thing detracts from the drama a bit.
